Course Outline
This training workshop provides practical guidance to persons in the workplace on how to manage the risk of musculoskeletal disorders arising from hazardous manual tasks in their work environment. It applies to all types of work and all workplaces where manual tasks are carried out.
This training program is designed specifically to comply with the WHSQ Hazardous Manual Tasks Code of Practice and the 2011 WHS Act and Regulations & covers key areas of:
- How to identify hazardous manual tasks
- Assess the risks of musculoskeletal disorders when performing tasks
- Eliminate or minimise those risks using a structured risk control system
- Implementing, monitoring & evaluation of controls and identifying when changes to safe systems of work are required
Face to face classroom delivery will be used to facilitate the underpinning knowledge requirements.
Assessment
There is no formal assessment required for this course however students are asked to participate in classroom and practical activities when required. Participants who demonstrate competency by successfully completing classroom and practical tasks will receive a Statement of Attendance.
Who Should Attend?
Any persons who performs hazardous manual tasks such as logistic operators, store and warehouse workers, operations personnel and maintenance workers.
Persons wishing to enter the workforce that may engage in hazardous manual work.
Supervisors, leading hands and those in control of persons performing hazardous manual tasks.
Legislation / Compliance
This training workshop is designed specifically to comply with the WHS hazardous manual tasks code of practice & the WHS Act and regulations of 2011.
Recognition of Prior Learning
There are no provisions for recognition of prior learning for the training.
Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
To complete this course successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication. Examples of LLN requirements that will need to be demonstrated include:
- Complete a hazardous manual task worksheet
- Complete a discomfort survey
- Participate in manual task improvements
