When experienced industry trainer and safety consultant Kerryanne Tawhai moved to Gladstone from work at the Kalgoorlie “Superpit”, it didn’t take long for her to see an opportunity. Recognised for her ability to push the “best practice” envelope in delivering training and safety systems, Kerryanne wasn’t satisfied with the standards of the majority of RTOs she was contracting with. So, with partner Trevor Tyson, a civil engineer, she established her own RTO. DTE embodies their decades of experience in training and safety for the mining, processing, oil and gas sectors. Kerryanne and her team understand what it takes to achieve positive results from training and maintain robust safety systems.

- Fit for Purpose Training Facility – situated in Gladstone’s CBD including training ground at Benaraby.
- Tailored training – in partnership with our clients, we offer specifically designed training, adapted to suit their learning needs and workplace requirements.
- Effective delivery – we will take time to understand the most appropriate methods to deliver the material.
- Productive class sizes limits – limited to 12 to 14 for accredited training or 20 for approved training as per WHSQ.
- Flexible delivery styles – training styles are altered to suit client needs.

Admin Support
Having recently returned from America, Suz joined DTE to support the administration of the business. Suz hours of work coincide with school hours.

Mark Newberry
Trainer and Assessor
Beginning a working career in 1991 as an Instrumentation Fitter with QAL, Mark has continuously stretched his learning and updated his skills within Industry. Now with a Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary and VET) and a Masters in Occupational Health and Safety and a score of working experiences in-between Mark shares his experiences and his witty personality with the workforce that engage DTE.
A great support to DTE holistically. Mark joined the DTE team in 2019.
Shane Hansen
Trainer Assessor – Package Developer
Shane Hansen Trainer Package Writer and Compliance Officer for the business. Background of 20 years in continuously operating process plants. Shane has advanced industry safety skills and for the last 4 years has worked within the Vocational education sector delivering training directly to industry.
Justin Costello
Package Developer
Justin began his career in the Royal Australian Navy and has worked in the Mining & Resources Industry since 2002, and more recently Offshore Oil & Gas construction and development projects. Justin has called Gladstone home for the past 10 years and is looking forward to drawing on his experience to develop and deliver training programs within a local company that is focused on quality and safety.
